Plans to launch forum of regions of Belarus, Kazakhstan

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Kazakhstan are planning to launch a forum of regions, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during the one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan in Minsk on 14 November, BelTA has learned.


"The intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation should drive forward our relations. One of the important results of its work this year was the development of a program of action for the five-year period," Roman Golovchenko said. Earlier, the parties signed a roadmap to trade and economic cooperation for two years.

According to him, the document provides for a number of measures to increase trade, intensify ties in industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport, communications. "We have an entire set of humanitarian issues - education, science, sport, tourism, healthcare. What is very important is interregional cooperation. We hope that in the near future we will be able to hold the first Forum of Regions of Kazakhstan and Belarus. In our opinion, this is a very effective format to advance cooperation in various fields," the Belarusian head of government said.
