Plans to increase oil tank farm storage capacity in Belarus up to 1m tonnes by 2025

GOMEL DISTRICT, 22 October (BelTA) – Plans have been made to increase the storage capacity of tank farms in the country up to 1 million tonnes by 2025. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Nazarov made the statement as the construction of the new oil trunk line Gomel-Gorki began on 22 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Yuri Nazarov, 1 million tonnes of oil will keep two Belarusian oil refineries busy for a month. The official underlined the significance of construction of the new trunk line by Gomeltransneft Druzhba. Yuri Nazarov noted: “This so-called connection between the southern branch and the northern branch of the Belarusian oil transportation system will allow us to promptly link two oil-processing facilities and reroute oil flows at least between these two major oil tank farms.”

OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba started building the oil trunk line Gomel-Gorki in Gomel District on 22 October. The new trunk line will be able to transport 6 million tonnes of oil per annum. The approximate cost of the investment project OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba finances out of its own pocket stands at Br300 million. Belorusneft is the general contractor.

The new trunk line will connect the southern branch of the Belarusian oil transport system and the northern one. The Gomel-Gorki line will be 207km long. It will be able to transport 6 million tonnes of oil per annum. The approximate cost of the investment project stands at Br300 million.
