Plans to discuss Eurasian Economic Union development strategy on 27 May

MOSCOW, 25 May (BelTA) – A videoconference session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will take place on 27 May. The heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union, presidents of the EAEU observer states (Cuba and Uzbekistan), and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich will take part in it, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA.

There are 15 items on the agenda. In particular, the heads of state will be informed about progress in implementing strategic directions of development of Eurasian economic integration for the period till 2025 judging from results of the year 2021. They will be informed about the realization of the main directions of international activities of the Eurasian Economic Union for the year 2021 and about the main reference points of macroeconomic policy of the Eurasian Economic Union member states for the 2022-2023 period.

The Eurasian Economic Commission will inform the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council about last year's efforts to remove obstacles on the domestic market.

In order to diversify economic ties of the Eurasian Economic Union, members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will discuss prospects of negotiations with Indonesia for the sake of signing a free trade agreement. They will also discuss the enforcement of the protocol to the temporary agreement, which leads to free trade between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states and Iran. The document was signed on 14 March 2022.

Apart from that, the heads of state will discuss the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union Day and its timing to the date when the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty was signed.
