MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The State Property Committee intends to work out a pilot project, which envisages the creation of the CIS states' geospatial data infrastructure portal. The committee's Chairman Dmitry Matusevich mentioned the plans during a session of the joint board of the State Property Committee of Belarus and the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of Russia in Brest on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
Participants of the session discussed matters concerning priority digital transformation projects, approaches to creating the national geospatial data infrastructure and a joint information resource about land and real estate. Prospects of development of cadastral (mass) evaluation in Belarus and Russia were discussed as well as the usage of the results. The sides also talked about sharing cutting-edge practices in the area of creating recordkeeping and registration systems of Belarus and Russia.
Chairman of the State Property Committee of Belarus Dmitry Matusevich, Head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) Oleg Skufinsky, and other representatives of the two agencies took part in the session.
According to Dmitry Matusevich, acting upon decisions and recommendations of the previous session experts had prepared proposals concerning the pilot project, which envisages the creation of the CIS geospatial data infrastructure portal. These proposals will be presented during the 43rd session of the interstate council.
Specialists of the two government agencies continue working to establish a new model for calculating normal heights and creating a quasi-geoid model as part of the dedicated working group.
Belarusian and Russian mapmakers have created and published an atlas titled as “Roads of military glory of 1941-1945”. The book is the first volume of the tourist atlas Travelling Together: Russia-Belarus.
At the beginning of the session participants joined a nationwide moment of silence. “The venue and the data of today's session were not chosen by accident. The Great Patriotic War began 80 years ago. It became one of the most tragic pages in the world history. In Belarus 22 June is a Day of Nationwide Remembrance of Victims of the Great Patriotic War. In Russia it is a Day of Sorrow and Remembrance,” Dmitry Matusevich said.
