BREST, 23 March (BelTA) – There are plans to commission five new enterprises in the free economic zone (FEZ) Brest in 2021, BelTA learned from Deputy Head of the FEZ Brest Administration Aleksandr Shukailo.
The resident company OOO BTW-Agro is about to finish an investment project worth over $15 million in Kobrin District. As part of the project the company will commission a mycelium farm. It will be Belarus' only enterprise of the kind. Belarusian mushroom farmers had to import mycelium up till now.
The furniture manufacturer IOOO ANREX is about to create a virtually new enterprise using former manufacturing premises of the semiconductor manufacturer Tsvetotron. The first stage of the enterprise has been commissioned. The company intends to finish reconstruction this year. ANREX intends to increase furniture production by 30-40%. The volume of investments is estimated at roughly $14 million.
The new enterprise WestUnionLogistic has been established at manufacturing premises previously owned by the company Brest Carpets in Yanki Kupaly Street in Brest. WestUnionLogistic is about to finish converting a manufacturing wing into an administrative and logistic complex.
An accumulator factory in Brest Oblast is one of the new enterprises, too. Its operation commencement act was signed not so long ago. The enterprise started working on 13 March.
The Belarusian-Chinese joint venture Arlight & Co is about to finish reconstruction at the industrial site Airport. The company will build a new manufacturing wing and will make LED products.
Existing enterprises intend to expand their manufacturing, too. OOO Polipol Mebel Bel was registered as a FEZ Brest resident company in summer 2020. The company is starting the construction of a major factory to make soft furniture in Ivatsevichi. The planned volume of investments is €26 million. The company Incofood intends to commission a new line to make uncooked smoked sausages. The company Santa Bremor invests at least $5 million in production development every year. The current five-year term will not be an exception. Gefest-Tekhnika, Ivatsevichdrev, and a number of other resident companies also intend to upgrade their manufacturing facilities.
In 2020 the industrial output of the free economic zone Brest increased by 14.2% from 2019 to Br2.6 billion. Fixed-capital investments rose by 29.4% to Br187 million while net foreign direct investments went by up by 70.2% to $42.5 million. FEZ Brest resident companies exported $770 million worth of merchandise or nearly one third of Brest Oblast's total export.
