
MOSCOW, 20 September (BelTA) - Belarus accounts for almost half of Russia's trade with the CIS countries, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksei Overchuk said during a meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow on 20 September, BelTA learned.
Aleksei Overchuk noted that Russia's top three partners in the CIS account for 80.3% of trade with all the CIS countries. “Belarus goes first with 42.3% and is followed by Kazakhstan 24.7%,” he said.
According to the Russian deputy prime minister, CIS member states account for 16% of Russia's total trade. “The CIS countries are our key partners. Russia's foreign trade with CIS countries in January-June 2024 increased by 6.7% over January-June 2023,” he said.
“Despite the tense foreign political situation, the CIS member states continue to be important and closest trade and economic partners for each other. This is important for the stability and development of the regions as a whole,” Aleksei Overchuk emphasized.
