BREST, 9 October (BelTA) – The economic forum-workshop Strategic Partner – China is taking place in Brest. Over 120 representatives of the private sector have been registered as forum participants, BelTA has learned.
A platform has been organized where representatives of the real sector of the economy can receive step-by-step recommendations for entering the Chinese market. During the discussion speakers from China, Belarus, and Russia will answer key questions concerning the cultural peculiarities of business communication, settlement procedures, logistics, and contract conclusion. Experts will also talk about trade finance instruments.
"We have substantial, voluminous trade with China. Of course, this is not the first event of its kind. At this forum we have about 20 professional speakers from various fields. It is very important that we have been able to invite Russian-speaking Chinese specialists who understand how Belarusian and Chinese businesses work, what our enterprises need, where growth opportunities lie, and what problems exist,” said Vitaly Vabishchevich, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He pointed out that there can be many nuances in cooperation.

“Today the key matter is bringing our export products to the Chinese market. The forum is basically dedicated to this: export, registration of our food enterprises, and so on. It may seem that Belarus and China are incomparable economies in terms of volume, but for some goods such as butter we are almost among the top ten suppliers. Agricultural products occupy a rather significant share of the Chinese market,” the BelCCI deputy chairman pointed out.

The forum attracted the interest of exporters, manufacturers, logistics operators, lawyers, financial specialists, and other specialists from various regions of Belarus who already work with partners in China or only plan to penetrate the Chinese market.

“China represents a colossal market for Belarus. It is multifaceted, and its peculiarities need to be understood, starting with the mentality and customs. Analysis shows that, unfortunately, our private sector is not entirely aware of these nuances. The forum brought together more than 120 business representatives, 70% of whom are small and medium-sized businesses. There is enormous interest. After registration was over, those, who had missed the registration window, asked to be included in the list of participants. This is a unique opportunity to hear from practical experts how to properly organize work with Chinese partners and get the maximum effect,” emphasized Valery Labun, Director General of the Brest branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
