MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Investment in the social sector contribute to the growth of regional economies, Belarusian First Deputy Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said as he visited the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Zhirovichi Monastery in Slonim District on 12 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
According to Yuri Chebotar, this architectural monument is a pearl of historical and cultural heritage of Belarus and a calling card of the region. “This holy place is visited by tens of thousands of Belarusians every year. It is also a powerful center of attraction for Orthodox Christians from different parts of the world. It is, in fact, part of the national brand. Therefore, the government will continue to provide systematic support for the restoration of the monastery. In addition to the obvious social effect, the allocated funds greatly strengthen the potential of pilgrimage tourism in the area. For the local economy, it is new opportunities for business development and, ultimately, a promising growth point,” the first deputy economy minister said.
