Opinion: Eurasian Economic Union holds its ground amidst West's sanctions

MOSCOW, 7 October (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union is successfully confronting unprecedented challenges from the collective West, member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission said at the Eurasian business forum Integration on 7 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

According to Sergei Glaziev, the EAEU has passed the test of the pandemic and is successfully developing today, despite the sanctions against Belarus and Russia. In his view, the work to implement the strategy for Eurasian economic integration development until 2025 is proceeding strictly according to the plan.

“Our integration association has proven to be effective as it has the competitive advantages of the participating countries,” said the EEC minister. “Our mutual trade is gaining momentum. Trade with countries outside the EAEU is also on the rise: last year, exports grew almost 1.5 times, we expect the growth trend to remain in place this year. Despite the sanctions, foreign trade has not dropped so much this year, we are rapidly increasing trade with our southern and eastern neighbors, especially with China and India,” he added.
