GORNO-ALTAYSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Negotiations between Belarusian and Russian delegations were held in Russia’s Gorno-Altaysk on the sidelines of the international conference on ecology and environmental protection. The discussion primarily focused on financing arrangements for oil refining projects, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian Finance Minister Yuri Seliverstov revealed the extensive agenda of the talks with Russian counterparts as he talked to journalists on 24 July. Discussions encompassed multiple financial matters including securing new funding, restructuring existing debt obligations, financing for strategic projects and other matters.

“These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to compare notes. While we maintain constant cooperation, face-to-face discussions allow us to review progress, evaluate draft agreements, and strengthen our financial partnership,” he said.

“You know, currently, financing for oil refining operations and budget funding mechanisms are among our top priorities. We maintain active collaboration regarding both investment project financing and direct financial support - these matters remain central to our ongoing discussions,” Yuri Seliverstov said.

On 25 July, the Belarusian delegation will take part in the international conference on ecology and environmental protection. The prime minister of Belarus is expected to speak at the plenary session there.

During his two-day visit to Gorno-Altaysk, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin is going to hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov of Uzbekistan and Head of Russia’s Sberbank German Gref. On 24 July, negotiations were held between Aleksandr Turchin and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
