MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) — Nigeria is interested in effective customs cooperation with Belarus, Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service JP Ajoku told the media on the sidelines of the 15th international conference "Ten years of the Eurasian Economic Union: Transformation of customs administration" in Minsk on 19 September, BelTA has learned.
"It is a pleasure for me to visit Belarus. We are grateful for your hospitality. We intend to establish a working relationship to further strengthen customs cooperation," JP Ajoku said.
The customs services of Belarus and Nigeria signed a joint declaration of customs cooperation in mutual administrative assistance during the delegation's visit to Minsk on 18 September. According to JP Ajoku, the document will give impetus to customs cooperation, trade development, views and experience exchange.
"On 18 September we toured companies which manufacture equipment including for customs service. We saw many new trends in the development of technical means," JP Ajoku said.
As it was reported, the experts are finalizing the draft memorandum of understanding, customs cooperation and mutual assistance between the two governments. It defines the basic principles and forms of cooperation, the procedure for interaction in detecting, suppressing and investigating customs offenses.
The guests got acquainted with Belarus' State Customs Committee, its institute, customs laboratory and infrastructure facilities.
