New social, economic development program in Belarus to include business incentives

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Plans have been made to include business support measures into Belarus' social and economic development program for 2021-2025. Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov made the statement before the Entrepreneur of the Year award ceremony on 17 December, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “Despite all the problems of this year 8-9 companies competed per one prize as part of this contest. The figure is higher than that in 2019. It means that entrepreneurs see prospects of economy development. At present the private sector accounts for 47% of Belarus' export, 50% of the GDP, and 60% of the revenues. This is why the government focuses on developing the private sector. The draft social and economic development program for 2021-2025 provides for measures that will allow providing financial support to the private sector in addition to enabling favorable conditions. Close attention will be paid to small business.”

The economy minister stressed that entrepreneurs play a special role in restoring the economy. “By the way, agriculture, civil engineering, IT industry, and retail are in the positive zone at present. Branches of the manufacturing sector are recovering,” he remarked.
