MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) - Flight and aviation safety remains a priority, Igor Golub, Director of the Aviation Department at the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry, said at the year-end board meeting which was held at the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation, BelTA learned.
The main efforts will also go into expanding the air transportation market, increasing its attractiveness for passengers, developing the route network and improving the economic efficiency and financial sustainability of air transport organizations.
The plans also include the development of regular and charter air flights from the airports of the country, attracting investments to expand the aircraft fleet, upgrade airfield and air navigation infrastructure, and improve the quality of passenger and cargo services.
Speaking about international cooperation, Igor Golub informed that the air service agreements with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Kenya are in high readiness for signing. The internal procedures of harmonizing the draft air service agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are currently in progress.
In October 2024, Belarus signed air service agreements with Seychelles and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During 2024, negotiations on the development of cooperation in the field of civil aviation were held with the aviation authorities of Russia, Kazakhstan, UAE, China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Vietnam, Venezuela, Iran, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Seychelles, Kuwait and other countries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubina, Deputy Economy Minister Vladimir Naumovich, representatives of the national government bodies and heads of aviation organizations.
In his closing remarks, Sergei Dubina focused on issues of paramount importance for civil aviation and urged to mobilize all resources to accomplish the goals.
