New chief outlines key areas of work for Belarus’ Development Bank

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) - Sergei Stolyarchuk, the new chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of Belarus has listed the main areas of work and tasks set for the bank, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Stolyarchuk served as deputy chairman of the Board of Directors at the same bank before.

“A lot has been done. Every year we set new tasks, looking for new opportunities to give a boost to the country’s economy. In recent years, our bank has become an effective tool for solving important and complex tasks in the economic sector. This, in my opinion, is the bank's mission, which is to see prospects that others do not notice, to do what others cannot. The Supervisory Board has set ambitious tasks for us in 2024. I am confident that we will not only fulfill them but also propose new goals for the Development Bank,” the new chairman of the board said.

According to him, the tasks set for the bank are meant to support the country's economy. These include financing investment projects, export, small and medium-sized business promotion, automation and digitalization of government procedures, digitalization of the healthcare system, price monitoring, and also interaction with faraway countries through support of partners, manufacturers in their activities in new markets.

“The products of our manufacturers are in huge demand. They represent excellent value for money, after-sales services. We are involved in the modernization of the country’s production sector, including machine tool building, in the implementation of integration import-substitution projects and know what kind of products the country will have in the current and coming years. In current negotiations with foreign partners, we offer the products we are going to produce in the future,” Sergei Stolyarchuk said.

He cited examples of the country’s activities in foreign markets. “A contract was signed to supply 1,000 tractors to Uzbekistan. We financed the delivery. Another delivery of tractors to that country will be financed in May. A visit to Nicaragua is planned next week we plan to visit Nicaragua. The country needs road-building and fire-fighting machinery,” the new head of the Development Bank added.
