MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) has signed a contract on the delivery of tractor knock-down kits worth $5,359.4 billion to Cambodia in 2014, BelTA learnt from the company.
The construction of the assembly plant, Belarus Mekong, has been completed. The opening ceremony is slated for 26-28 March, the MTZ representatives said.
Belarus-Mekong Company was registered in May 2013 with MekongAT Company. MTZ share in the authorized capital of the joint venture makes up 80%, the partner from Cambodia holds a 20% stake. The assembly plant will allow increasing the supplies and annual production up to 500 Belarus tractors in 2014-2015 with the further sales on the market of Cambodia and its neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
Minsk Tractor Works was founded in 1946. Now it is affiliated with the Industry Ministry. MTZ produces more than 60 models and modifications of tractors and machines in over 100 versions and configurations for all climatic and operational conditions. The company holds 8-10% of the global tractor market. Minsk Tractor Works sells to more than 60 countries and has assembly plants in Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Romania, Egypt, Serbia, Algeria, Venezuela and other countries. MTZ comprises 11 companies.
Diplomat relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Cambodia were established on 25 January 1995. In January-November 2013 the bilateral trade totaled $6.2 million. Belarusian exports made up $5.2 million.
