Mozambique seeks closer ties with Belarus in agriculture

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov held a working meeting with Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries Minister of Mozambique Roberto Mito Albino. During the meeting, the parties agreed to develop agro-industrial cooperation between the countries, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The Mozambican delegation visited the international specialized exhibition Belagro 2025, where they explored Belarus' agricultural achievements. "Your visit is a confirmation of the friendly relations between our countries and the readiness to cooperate in the agro-industrial sector," Yuri Gorlov remarked.

"Our president has chosen Belarus as a strategic partner. What I saw at the exhibition convinced me that this was the right decision," Roberto Mito Albino said, highlighting the importance of the visit. "We have water, people, and land, but lack sufficient food production. A lot of money has been invested in agriculture, but we haven’t achieved high yields," he explained. The Mozambican minister emphasized that cooperation with Belarus will help Mozambique achieve greater results in agriculture.

The delegation from Mozambique emphasized that their visit marks the beginning of a "new era in agricultural development". Mozambique intends to actively leverage Belarusian experience. Yuri Gorlov reaffirmed Belarus' commitment to strengthening trade and economic cooperation, proposing to create a working group to discuss further steps.

According to the press service, Belarus is ready to supply poultry, dry milk, butter, and other products to Mozambique. The training of Mozambican specialists in agriculture was also discussed during the meeting. The parties concluded that the potential for Belarus-Mozambique cooperation in agriculture is currently very high.
