Moscow to host CIS Economic Forum on 28-29 March

MOSCOW, 27 March (BelTA) - The CIS International Economic Forum will take place in Moscow on 28-29 March under the motto “From Dialogue to Joint Projects in the CIS, EAEU, SCO”, the forum organizers told BelTA.

The forum will feature 21 sections. More than 2,000 participants are expected to discuss cooperation between the CIS countries in logistics, customs, construction, industrial cooperation, migration policy, medicine, tourism, sustainable development and other areas. The plenary session will be traditionally attended by members of the CIS Economic Council, the CIS Executive Committee, the executive bodies of the EAEU and the SCO. The forum will be held simultaneously with the meeting of the CIS Economic Council featuring CIS deputy prime ministers, senior officials of the ministries of economic development, finance, industry and trade, innovation development, representatives of government bodies, chambers of commerce and industry, industry associations and banking communities, as well as entrepreneurs.

“The main goal of the upcoming forum is to move from discussions to closer cooperation in such areas as economy, industry, education, culture, security, infrastructure development and others. Within the framework of cooperation between the integration associations of the CIS, EAEU, SCO, it is important to establish an exchange of experience in the use of new technologies and materials, to harmonize technical standards and norms, to decide on support measures and financing mechanisms for large cross-border projects. An important aspect of such cooperation is the search for balanced solutions that take into account the interests of all countries, as well as the development of mechanisms to resolve possible contradictions. Effective interaction between the countries of the CIS, EAEU and SCO integration associations requires not only political will and strategic vision, but also active participation of business communities, scientific and educational institutions, as well as civil society. Thus, the forum launches a multidimensional process that contributes to deepening integration and strengthening cooperation between the CIS, EAEU, SCO, promoting their sustainable development and ensuring the wellbeing of the peoples of these integration associations,” the organizers stressed.

The forum is held with the support of the CIS Executive Committee. It is included in the action plan of Russia’s CIS Presidency concept for 2024.
