MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – The modernization of the Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ will allow doubling the aggregate output by 2030. Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Nazarov made the statement during a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus in the Oval Hall of the House of Government on 28 October, BelTA has learned.
The production sector is expected to accomplish a number of strategic goals in the forthcoming five-year term. The automobile engineering company MAZ will be reconstructed and a new manufacturing wing will be built. “We will increase the output to 3,000 pieces per annum. We make at most 1,500 at present. A meeting with a potential European investor took place yesterday. We are likely to sign a contract on turn-key production of buses with the investor soon,” Yuri Nazarov said.
A complete retooling of the tractor manufacturing company MTZ and a gradual increase in the production of modern tractors will be the second strategic goal. Plans have been made to retool the blank production division, the shop for high-precision machining of body and crankcase parts and to build a new foundry outside Minsk. MTZ's modernization will allow virtually doubling the aggregate output of tractors and vehicles to 70,000 pieces by 2030 and respectively doubling the export. “Today our share of the global market of tractor products is practically 2%. I think it will allow securing at least a 4% share,” Yuri Nazarov said.
