LOGOISK DISTRICT, 25 August (BelTA) - More than 7,000 domestic harvesters are used in Belarus, Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik told the media, BelTA has learned.
"Today, more than 7,000 harvesters work in the fields of Belarus. According to our calculations, the agriculture industry needs 600-650 new harvesters almost every year. This year we have already supplied 350 harvesters to farmers. By the end of the year, we will do our best to meet the needs of the agriculture industry," Piotr Parkhomchik said.
According to the minister, 25-30% of all combine harvesters produced in the country are supplied domestically. The rest is exported, the main markets being Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.
As BelTA has reported, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made a working trip to Logoisk District. In the Ostroshitsy farm the head of state was informed about the development prospects for domestic harvester production. The reason for the event was the anniversary: 24 August marked the 25th anniversary since the Belarusian agricultural machinery company Gomselmash launched the production of the Belarusian harvesters on the instruction of the president.
