MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Food security is important for Belarus this time as never before, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo told the media in Minsk on 26 July, BelTA has learned.
"This year has been quite difficult. Due to everything that is happening around the country, the sanctions and the problems in economic interaction with many countries, we have to harvest as much crops as possible, everything that we have in the fields. We have grown accustomed to the fact that we are fully self-sufficient in terms of food, that we export a lot of food products. But this time it is very important that we are fully stocked with food and animal feeds," Igor Brylo said.
The minister noted that Belarusian agrarians face the ambitious tasks, which requires high professionalism and discipline to meet them. "We are confident that we will cope. The fodder crops are excellent, all regions are harvesting. Definitely we will be able to stock more than last year," he said. “In terms of grain crops we look set to crop a larger harvest this year than last year. This gives us the confidence to be optimistic about the future.”
