Minister: Digital transformation in business can be scaled up in the interests of the economy

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov met with the management of Belwest Company and its subsidiary LACIT on 6 December to discuss the digital transformation of the real economy, BelTA learned from the ministry's press service.

Business representatives presented their own unique developments for the Industry 4.0 concept development. These included an electronic trading and logistics platform (marketplace) to promote and organize sales of industrial products in foreign and domestic markets, a 24/7 enterprise incident monitoring and troubleshooting system, and a smart manufacturing execution system (MES).

“These developments are original, interesting, and have wide functionality, which makes them competitive even in comparison with their foreign analogues. Even more importantly, the fresh technological solutions were invented by the Belarusians themselves and have already been successfully tested. In our opinion, they can be scaled in the interests of the national economy. They help significantly reduce production costs, maximize utilization of expensive equipment, reduce downtime, and, as a result, increase labor productivity,” Aleksandr Chervyakov emphasized.

LACIT was founded in 2017 on the basis of the IT division of Belwest Company and is a part of the shoe holding company. The company is a resident of the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park and specialized in the development of software products and services for enterprise automation, which are based on automatic video information analysis, artificial intelligence methods, digital twins and the industrial technology “Internet of Things”.

Belwest is the largest shoe manufacturer in Belarus. Production capacity is 2 million pairs of shoes per year. Products are exported to Russia (more than 90% of the company's total export), Latvia, Kazakhstan and Estonia. The company has a robotized shoe production line.
