Minister comments on export destinations of Belarusian timber

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik visited the national forest selection and seed center on 19 August, BelTA has learnd.

Due to the sanctions, the volume of production decreased slightly, the minster told the media. However, work with foreign countries continues. In July the products were shipped to China, Iran, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan. "We are confident that if we maintain this pace of work, then we will reach the optimal level of exports by September-October," Aleksandr Kulik said.

According to him, the issue of pellets remains unresolved for the time being. "While it is hot, Europeans are only studying options how they will keep warm in winter," the minister said. “Meanwhile we are exploring other markets. There are 28 pellet production facilities in Belarus. The output is expected to reach half a million tonnes by November. We are working on this issue now."
