MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – The development of regions and industries should be synchronized, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.
The Economy Ministry took stock of the results of the working trips of the ministry's senior officials across the regions. These trips were designed to help the regions come to grips with certain issues and to study development prospects, which is needed for drafting five-year program documents.
The regional policy of the current five-year plan will focus on the towns with a population of over 80,000. That is why in 2021 the Economy Ministry paid special attention to the methodological support of regional programs.
As a result of the meetings, a decision was made to adjust the draft documents to fulfill the tasks set in the socio-economic development program of Belarus for 2021-2025, and to synchronize industry-specific and regional five-year plans.
According to Aleksandr Chervyakov who visited Polotsk District and Novopolotsk, the development of regions and industries should be synchronized. “Each enterprise should be examined in detail. Firstly, we need to analyze companies' development prospects and their ability to make competitive products and successfully operate in the markets. Secondly, we need to build a better understanding of how to utilize these companies' capacities in the interests of regional economies. Thirdly, we need to balance industry-specific and regional interests. Only by observing these basic conditions while implementing the program documents, we will get a powerful multiplier effect for regional development,” the minister said.
During his working trip to Vitebsk Oblast, the economy minister attended a presentation of capacities and development prospects of the Novopolotsk petrochemical cluster. During the exchange of views on its further development, the minister recalled that thirteen specialized clusters are to be set up in the upcoming five-year period. These clusters will specialize in the development, production and promotion of new products.
