MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to help promote initiatives of Iranian investors, Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Alireza Sanei. The meeting was held at the Economy Ministry, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation with Iran. According to the minister, a fresh impetus to bilateral relations was given by the agreements reached in the follow-up of the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Iran in March 2023. The implementation of the cooperation roadmap for 2023-2026 will help increase the effectiveness of interaction across the board.

The economy minister emphasized that Iran is one of Belarus’ promising trading partners. “The trade between our countries has more than tripled since 2021. The export of goods has increased more than six times. But we still have significant untapped reserves when it comes to trade, economic and investment cooperation. Belarus is ready to help promote Iranian initiatives that will help us implement mutually beneficial investment projects,” noted Yuri Chebotar.

The minister also told the ambassador how the Belarusian economy is coping with external pressure. He emphasized that the country managed to adapt to the new realities and to take the necessary measures to minimize the impact of the restrictions.
