MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian agricultural industry is operating steadily, the country is capable of responding to current challenges, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said at the international forum Belarus' Dairy Industry on 26 October, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus is able to adequately respond to today's challenges and threats. Moreover, in the 21st century the country has every opportunity to turn into one of the world leaders in agricultural production,” Igor Brylo said.
He noted that the agricultural complex is one of the economic mainstays of the country. “Thanks to a balanced state policy, Belarusians are fully provided with high-quality domestic products. The Belarusian agricultural complex is operating steadily. Planting is proceeding in line with the schedule, the production process is running smoothly, there are no interruptions in food supplies. As a result, our country holds a high position in the global ranking of agricultural and food producers: 6th in the production of skimmed milk powder, 10th in the production of butter, 12th in the production of potatoes, 15th in the production of whole milk powder, 16th in the production of rapeseed oil,” the minister said.
The international forum Belarus' Dairy Industry is taking place in Minsk on 26-27 October. The forum will highlight how to strengthen Belarus' positions in the global dairy market and earn more on milk under the sanctions, what to supply to Russian regions, how to diversify exports and imports, how to find new suppliers of equipment and packaging, and how to optimize logistics. Company heads and top managers will meet up with experts and industry officials to discuss market trends, challenges and opportunities.
