MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Over 95% of areas planted to maize have been harvested in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 1 November, Belarus cropped 1.097 million hectares of maize. This is 95% of the total maize area (1,155.500 hectares). As of 1 November 2020, a total of 1.062 million hectares, or 87.2% of the plan (1,218,900 hectares) were cropped.
Some 919,700 hectares of maize were harvested for silage and green fodder (98.3% of the plan), 178,000 hectares were harvested for grain (80.8%).
The average yield of maize for grain is 73.8 centners per hectare. It was 69.4 centners per hectare on the same date last year.
