Lukashenko orders another revision of this year’s state investment program draft

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has ordered another revision of the draft state investment program for the year 2025, BelTA learned from Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar after the head of state received a thorough report on the matter on 15 January.

Yuri Chebotar said: “A draft of the state investment program for this year has been looked into today. As a result of the discussion the president gave instructions to take a closer look at the individual projects that we talked about. It will be necessary to go onsite and look at things in some cases. Certainly, those projects, which are in an advanced construction stage, will be continued. It is necessary to get rid of superfluity after all.”

As for the projects that have design documents but the construction process has not started yet, it is necessary to evaluate whether the structures objectively have to be built.

“The key point the head of state made is to look at all these objects from the point of view of development of our country. First of all, those that will give development opportunities to the real sector of the economy. Those are our industrial enterprises, the construction of infrastructure. Energy infrastructure, electricity infrastructure, gas supply infrastructure, and so on. We have the relevant proposals. Together with our customers we will look for what else we can enhance in order to make sure our state investment program enables the country’s development,” Yuri Chebotar said.

He stressed that every kopeck should be looked at from the point of view of efficiency as the head of state demands.

The same applies to the construction of social facilities. It is necessary to clearly evaluate where and in what format they will indeed enjoy as much demand as possible.

“It will be necessary to take a look at a range of projects that we talked about and had questions about today. We will go together with the corresponding authorities and will take a look. I am convinced we will submit an optimal draft of the state investment program for the president’s approval,” the minister added.
