MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Products of Bellegprom can carve out their niche on major marketplaces, Nadezhda Lazarevich told journalists following her appointment as chairperson of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom by the head of state on 13 October, BelTA has learned.
“I would not say that marketplaces offer no support for us. It is indeed a special line of business that requires certain skills to work with. I believe that by learning to work with major marketplaces, we will find our niche there and will achieve better results than we have today,” Nadezhda Lazarevich said.
This immediately brings up questions of competition and protecting the domestic market. According to Nadezhda Lazarevich, prohibiting or blocking things is not the correct approach. “We need to figure out how to support [enterprises] so that we become more competitive and create room for something new through equipment upgrades. Of course, we must protect our own, but much also depends on us. As consumers, we should consciously choose local products. However, a great deal also depends on producers’ efforts to develop competitive and attractive goods for customers,” she believes.
