Kyrgyzstan interested in assembly plants for Belarusian farm equipment

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) - Kyrgyzstan is interested in setting up assembly plants for Belarusian farm equipment, Nurbek Murashev, minister of agriculture, food industry, and amelioration of Kyrgyzstan, chairman of the Belarus- Kyrgyzstan intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation on Kyrgyzstan's behalf, told reporters during the session of the intergovernmental commission on 5 June, BelTA informs.

“Today we need equipment for our farmers and peasants,” Nurbek Murashev explained. Besides, the sides mull over the possibility to set up joint light industry enterprises.

Leonid Zayats, Belarus' agriculture and food minister, chairman of the intergovernmental commission on Belarus' behalf, said that the priority avenues of cooperation include personnel training, their professional improvement, creation of commodity distribution networks, joint enterprises for the manufacture of farm equipment, delivery of Belarusian elevators to Kyrgyzstan. The assembly plant for MTZ equipment opened in Bishkek in November 2016, the talks on the opening of other production facilities are in progress.

In his words, the trade and economic cooperation of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan has been increasingly vibrant in recent time. In 2016, the export of Belarusian agricultural companies to Kyrgyzstan went up 3.1 times. It increased almost 14 times in Q1 2017. The main exports are meat and dairy products.

The 7th session of the intergovernmental commission in Minsk is focused on the expansion of interaction of the two sides in the delivery of equipment and industrial cooperation, collaboration in the energy sector, agriculture, healthcare, education, science, culture, information, and tourism. The agenda of the session also includes the development of cooperation between regions ad free economic zones of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
