
MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - A Korean delegation will tour major Belarusian milk processing enterprises supplying their products to the Republic of Korea on an inspection mission. The details were discussed during an official meeting between representatives of the Veterinary and Food Supervision Department at the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and a delegation of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea (MFDS), BelTA learned from the Belarusian ministry.
The parties discussed plans regarding the inspection mission of the Korean delegation which will be running from 21 to 28 May. The Korean delegation will familiarize with the system of quality control and compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements at еру Belarusian enterprises exporting products to the Republic of Korea. The Korean specialists will visit the leading milk processing plants in different regions of the country.
It was noted that the overall goal of the Korean delegation's visit to Belarus was to strengthen bilateral cooperation, exchange experience in ensuring the quality and safety of food products and to prepare for inspection visits to the Belarusian food industry facilities. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea is responsible for the quality control and safety of food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics.
"During the visits, the Korean side will assess production conditions, laboratory control, internal audit system and compliance with safety requirements. It is planned to discuss opportunities to expand trade and build up confidence in Belarusian products in the Korean market," the ministry said. “The visit will result in analytical reports, which can become the basis for making decisions on the admission of new products to the market of the Republic of Korea
According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, expanding the dialogue between Belarus and the Republic of Korea in food safety contributes not only to economic ties, but also to the overall level of quality and safety of exported goods. Such meetings and joint inspections are an important element of international cooperation, which serves as a basis for long-term partnership.
