MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and Bashkortostan is firmly on track, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation Radiy Khabirov told the media after a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Minsk on 7 February, BelTA learned.
"We can say that we have passed the first stage in the development of Bashkir-Belarusian relations. We have established contacts, formed the necessary institutions and structures to organize our work, and examined each other's potential. Now we are on track towards deeper cooperation and intensive interaction. Bashkir business has seen that it can work here, it is protected and welcome in Belarus and faces no bureaucratic problems. The same is true for Belarusian business in Bashkortostan," Radiy Khabirov said.
The main provisions of the roadmap and problematic points of cooperation were discussed at a meeting in the government today. "We looked substantially at our major enterprises, progress in cooperation and the status of the MAZ project with the Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant. We also discussed whether there are any obstacles to cooperation between our enterprises," Radiy Khabirov stated.

The parties also touched upon the prospects of cooperation in tourism. "We also had a meaningful discussion on sports projects. We agreed to hold a large youth wrestling tournament," he added.
Radiy Khabirov praised Belarus' high competence in mechanical engineering. "Belarus has offered us financial instruments at a good interest rate, which provide an opportunity to purchase Belarusian construction machinery, utility vehicles and agricultural machines. I will instruct my colleagues to study the matter. Perhaps, we will accept the offer," he said.
Regarding the upcoming celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day, Bashkortostan plans to invite representatives of Belarus to participate in events. In turn, representatives of the Russian region also expressed their willingness to participate in festivities in Belarus if invited. "As part of anniversary events, we plan to organize school tours to places of military glory. This may later become a permanent project," Radiy Khabirov concluded.
