Karankevich: Belarus' defense sector adapts effectively to new economic challenges

MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian defense industry complex has effectively adjusted to new economic challenges and continues to develop new competencies and capabilities, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said at the opening of the 12th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2025 in Minsk on 21 May, BelTA has learned.

"It has been two years since the previous expo took place, but in this short time, Belarusian companies of the defense industry complex have made significant progress, ensuring the steady and innovative development of the country's defense sector," he said.

Viktor Karankevich noted that visitors to the Minsk International Exhibition Center, where the event is taking place, can explore both the latest promising developments and well-established designs from the domestic defense industry complex’s companies.

"This once again proves that the industry has successfully adapted and continues to operate amid new economic challenges, developing new skills and capabilities. Behind this progress is the hard work of thousands of teams, enterprises, and military personnel," the vice premier emphasized.

He believes that MILEX is an excellent platform for meetings, roundtable discussions, security-related debates, exchanges of opinions, and signing mutually beneficial contracts. Viktor Karankevich wished all participants successful and productive work, the establishment of new contacts, and the implementation of plans aimed at strengthening regional and global security and maintaining peace.
