Irkutsk Oblast governor outlines avenues of cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – Irkutsk Oblast Governor Igor Kobzev told the Belarus 1 TV channel about avenues of cooperation with Belarus, BelTA informs.

According to him, Belarus and Irkutsk Oblast cooperate across many sectors. “We cooperate in agriculture, reforestation, communication, transport infrastructure,” Igor Kobzev said.

Irkutsk Oblast signed two agreements - with Minsk Tractor Works and Gomselmash - on the sidelines of the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. “We concluded an additional agreement with Minsk Tractor Works. We are considering the purchase of equipment for logging and timber production, fire fighting equipment, farm machines, municipal and road machinery, construction equipment. Belarusian partners offer cooperation terms that can be of interest to us. We invited a Gomselmash delegation to come to our Field Festival due on 12 July. Gomselmash will be able to showcase its equipment, and our farmers will make a decision whether they need it or not,” the governor said.

“We have agreed to set up joint ventures with investments from both parties. This avenue of cooperation seems to hold a lot of promise and will benefit the end consumer,” Igor Kobzev added.
