Iran praises quality of Belarusian agricultural machinery

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) - Iranian representatives visiting Belarus highly praised the quality and efficiency of Belarusian agricultural machinery during a business meeting between Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov and Iran’s deputy agriculture minister, the press service of Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The Iranian delegation, which includes officials from the Agriculture Ministry and embassy, visited Belarus to participate in the international specialized exhibition Belagro 2025. During the meeting, the parties highlighted the rapid growth of trade and economic cooperation. In 2024, the trade in agricultural products and food raw materials between Belarus and Iran surged by 21.1% compared to 2023. Belarus primarily exports animal by-products, malt, whey, dairy-based goods, mineral and sparkling water to Iran and imports fruits, berries, vegetables, melons, mushrooms, and cocoa.

A significant step in strengthening relations was the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2023 between Belarus’ State Standardization Committee and the National Standards Organization of Iran, which includes mutual recognition of Halal certificates.

"We are keen to expand cooperation in areas where we have already made progress. We will work to boost bilateral trade, develop Belarusian-Iranian business contacts, and finalize procedures for the entry of our poultry products into the Iranian market," Yuri Gorlov stated.

Currently, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry together with the Belarusian Embassy in Iran are working to obtain permits for Belarusian enterprises to export poultry meat.

"We have the potential to achieve trade balance between our countries. Belarus possesses vast agricultural capabilities, which we are eager to adopt. We were impressed by our visit to a dairy complex, where we observed fully mechanized production processes," the Iranian deputy minister noted, recognizing the potential of Belarusian agriculture and the prospects for bilateral cooperation.

The Iranian delegation lauded the quality and efficiency of Belarusian agricultural machinery. The parties also discussed the development of crop production and plant breeding. The meeting was conducted in a constructive and friendly atmosphere and marked an important step toward deepening economic relations between Belarus and Iran in agriculture.
