Interregional, investment cooperation agreements signed at Grodno business forum

GRODNO, 12 September (BelTA) – Several agreements on interregional and investment cooperation have been signed during the international business forum in Grodno, BelTA has learned.

The 20th edition of the national universal business forum, expo and fair Euroregion Neman 2019 kicked off in Grodno on 12 September. It has brought together representatives of 30 countries: diplomats, government officials, businessmen, and experts.

Such business forums as Euroregion Neman offer opportunities to attract attention to the economy and investment opportunities of the region and to showcase products of local enterprises. We see that the forum has gained impetus. This year, it has drawn our old partners and friends from the neighboring countries as well as guests from farther away, Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov noted. He said that the event will result in establishing new ties, signing cooperation agreements and contracts to supply products abroad.

During the plenary session of the forum, districts of Grodno Oblast entered into more than ten agreements on cooperation in various areas with regions of Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, and Turkey. Several companies, some of them with foreign investments, signed memorandums of intent to develop investment cooperation with the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee. The Grodno city authorities and a real estate developer concluded a framework agreement on implementing an investment project to build an apartment house with a parking lot in the center of the city. The Ostrovets district administration signed a roadmap of cooperation with Russia's Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and the fund for municipal corporations advancement “The Association of the nuclear power plants locations” (ATR AES, Russia).

The forum also featured themed sections which invite participants to consider promising investment areas, ways to strengthen transboundary cooperation, and development of tourism in the region. They will also study industrial facilities of the free economic zone Grodnoinvest.

Participants of the forum are invited to take part in free educational sessions to discuss details of stock trading, conditions and procedures of carrying out international transactions, diversification of export of Belarusian products and services to African countries, and so on.

The Euroregion Neman business forum includes a universal expo and fair which showcases products of over a hundred enterprises.

The event has been organized by the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the Grodno Office of the Belarusian Camber of Commerce and Industry.
