Inflation in Belarus at 5.6% in 2018

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – In December 2018 the index of consumer prices for goods and services totaled 100.8% as against November 2018 and 105.6% as against December 2017, representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The 2018 inflation target was below 6%.

In December 2018 the base index of consumer prices, which does not account for changes in prices for individual goods and services susceptible to administrative and seasonal factors, stood at 100.3% in comparison with November 2018 and 104.8% as against December 2017.

In December 2018 food prices went up by 1.2% from November 2018 and by 5.7% as against December 2017. Non-food prices went down by 0.1% as against November 2018, and went up by 3.8% from December 2017.

In December 2018 the index of prices for services totaled 101.2% as against November 2018, and 108.1% as against December 2017.
