 India invites Belarus to take part in government programs

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – During the official visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik to Delhi on 13 March, negotiations were held with Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed progress to implement the agreements reached at the 11th meeting of the Belarus-India Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Industry, Science, Technology and Culture in November 2022.

The parties expressed mutual interest in intensifying cooperation in the manufacturing sector, which includes the assembly production of Belarusian machinery, as well as expanding contacts between the business communities of the two countries.

The Indian side invited Belarusian enterprises to increase their presence on the huge Indian market through joint projects, to take part in government programs in electronics, green energy, semiconductors and other areas that India sees as promising, and in the Make In India initiative.

Belarus' delegation also met with Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance to discuss trade and economic cooperation.

A series of meetings were held with major manufacturers and entrepreneurs of India.

The National Center for Marketing and Price Study of Belarus helped arrange the talks at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Taking part in the negotiations were Sergei Aleinik and heads of India's leading manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and petrochemicals, as well as travel agencies and other companies. Following the meeting, the National Center for Marketing and Price Study and FICCI signed a memorandum of long-term cooperation.
