IMF upgrades Belarus’ economic outlook

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded Belarus’ economic growth forecast, BelTA learned from the IMF’s latest review.

The IMF projects Belarus’ GDP to grow by 3.6% in 2024 and 2.3% in 2025. Earlier the bank provided lower expectations for growth – 2.4% and 1.1% respectively.

Earlier, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development also upgraded their economic outlooks for Belarus.

According to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, in January-September 2024 Belarus’ GDP expanded by 4.5%, with the annual target at 3.8%. For now the economy is growing at a rate well above the projected one. In 2025 Belarus’ GDP is supposed to rise by 4.1%.
