MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – The Grodno meat factory GMK intends to ship the first batch of beef products to the United Arab Emirates within the next few months, BelTA learned from Alexei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
According to the source, within a couple of months the Grodno meat factory GMK will begin supplying beef to the Middle East via commodity distribution networks of the American company Rastelli Foods Group. UAE specialists will audit the Belarusian meat manufacturer within one month.
According to Alexei Bogdanov, the Belarusian company will ship one container of beef to the UAE first. Later on the supplies will depend on demand. “We plan to start with the Grodno meat-packing plant. Later on we will involve other enterprises in selling merchandise on the Middle East market,” noted the official.
In 2014 Rastelli Foods Group signed a business agreement with the Grodno meat factory GMK on promoting Belarusian beef products onto third-country markets. The American company sells merchandise virtually in 80 countries, processes a lot of beef, operates four meat-processing factories and a trade and logistics facility. The annual output exceeds $1.2 billion.
A Belarusian delegation led by Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats is expected to visit the USA on 17-23 May. While in the USA members of the delegation will meet with top officials of the United States Department of Agriculture, the governors of North Dakota and Nebraska, representatives of the American private sector, trade companies. Members of the Belarusian delegation will also go on a tour of agricultural enterprises.
A meeting with top managers of the group of companies Rastelli Foods Group was scheduled for the first day of the visit. In particular, the sides were supposed to discuss the experience of meat processing business, fish farming, animal husbandry, the meat processing industry in Belarus, and the certification of Belarusian meat products.
