Governor: Voronezh Oblast is interested in Belarusian equipment, mutual investment

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Voronezh Oblast of Russia shows interest in the acquisition of Belarusian equipment and mutual investment, Voronezh Oblast Governor Aleksandr Gusev told the media on 28 April, BelTA has learned.

An action plan has been signed to implement the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Voronezh Oblast on trade, economic, scientific, technical, humanitarian and cultural cooperation for 2022-2024.

“We are updating our agreement with an action plan to implement it. I hope that we will be able to take another step and develop road maps for every part of the plan. It seems to me that this is a promising way, and we need to move quickly to achieve results,” said Aleksandr Gusev.

He stressed the interest of Voronezh Oblast in the development of cooperation with Belarusian partners. “We understand how we can be of interest to Belarus in terms of our industrial production and agriculture. There are also many Belarusian companies that could supply their products to Voronezh Oblast. We have visited several of them, including MAZ and Belkommunmash. We are busy with renewing our passenger rolling stock. We are interested in the equipment produced at these enterprises. We are familiar with it and hope that we will be able to find options for purchasing it,” the governor said.

Voronezh Oblast is also counting on Belarusian investments. “We offer preferential conditions for the development of new businesses. Our businessmen are also ready to invest in Belarus. I hope we will be able to launch a more active process of mutual investment,” added Aleksandr Gusev.

“Aspects such as culture, tourism, and education are of the same importance. These are the areas where we can do a lot more. Young people should know more about each other. This is the basis for our further development within the Union State,” the governor concluded.

In 2021 mutual trade between Belarus and Russia's Voronezh Oblast totaled $348.1 million, which was up by 28.3% over 2020. Exports came at $216 .9 million, up by 16.3%. Belarus' major exports to Voronezh Oblast were cheese and cottage cheese, butter, beef, metal products, ferrous metal structures, plastic containers, parts and accessories for cars and tractors and other goods

Belarus imported mainly sunflower oil, sunflower seeds, margarine, synthetic rubber, dyes, ferrous metal waste and scrap, plastic film and other products.
