Governor: Russia's Astrakhan Oblast develops economic, humanitarian ties with Belarusian regions

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) –Russia's Astrakhan Oblast has been developing cooperation with Belarusian regions in economy and humanitarian matters, Governor of Astrakhan Oblast Igor Babushkin told the media after a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA learned.

"As for cooperation with Belarusian regions, we have the agreements with Vitebsk Oblast and Brest Oblast earlier. We have been working closely with them for a while now. Last year, after a meeting with Roman Golovchenko in Minsk, we signed an agreement with Mogilev Oblast. Today we cooperate quite actively; our trade has been growing. We are promoting humanitarian ties as well. Our children participated in the Mogilev project ‘Along the Paths of Memory and Glory’. They also regularly attend memorial events in Brest," Igor Babushkin noted.

He expressed confidence that cooperation between Astrakhan Oblast and Belarus will result in more projects. "We have a huge potential in land reclamation and engineering, tapping into Belarusian construction capacities," the governor emphasized.
