Governor: Over 60% of farm machinery used in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast is Belarus-made

YEKATERINBURG, 9 July (BelTA) – Over 60% of machinery used on the fields of Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast was made in Belarus, Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev said as he met with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has long been one of top ten trading partners of the region. Our priorities include the promotion of industrial cooperation and export and import of high-quality industrial products. BelAZ equipment is in high demand among mining and metallurgical enterprises of Sverdlovsk Oblast. Since the beginning of last year, the region has purchased 53 dump trucks,” said Yevgeny Kuyvashev.

According to him, more than 60% of all agricultural equipment operated on the fields of Sverdlovsk Oblast was made in Belarus. He pointed to successful implementation of agreements that were reached by the Sverdlovsk Oblast Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Market and Belarusian machine-building enterprises during last year’s INNOPROM expo. “In 2023, a total of 95 Belarusian machines were supplied to Ural farmers, and another 25 this year,” the governor added.

Much attention is paid to humanitarian contacts. “Universities of Sverdlovsk Oblast and Belarus cooperate in science and education. The Consulate General and the honorary consul of Belarus help arrange joint events for children and the youth; theater groups are going to exchange tours. Belarus is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination among residents of the Urals, as evidenced by the high demand for direct flights and an increase in passenger traffic. There is active inter-municipal interaction, and sister-city ties between our cities are growing stronger,” Yevgeny Kuyvashev noted.

The Belarusian head of government came to Yekaterinburg to attend the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM. Belarusian enterprises are taking part in this expo as part of the Made in Belarus exposition. The Belarusian exposition is on par with that of the United Arab Emirates, this year's partner country, in terms of the number of new products and exhibits. The Belarusian stand has aroused a great interest among professional visitors, representatives of foreign companies and the business community.
