MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Kherson Oblast is interested in Belarusian fertilizers and agricultural machinery, Governor of Russia’s Kherson Oblast Vladimir Saldo told journalists after a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 15 September, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Saldo noted that Kherson Oblast is an agricultural region and now it needs to upgrade its fleet of agricultural machinery. According to him, most of such machinery in the region was manufactured in the West. “Now this machinery is almost inoperable because there are no spare parts. We hope to restore cooperation with Belarusian enterprises,” the governor said.
Vladimir Saldo also pointed out the importance of Belarusian potash fertilizers for Kherson Oblast. “This is something Belarus can provide to Kherson Oblast and our farmers,” the governor added.
According to the governor, during his visit to Belarus he plans to tour Belarusian enterprises to see their products. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] said clearly: tour all our enterprises that manufacture world-famous products. There is probably no settlement or village in Kherson Oblast, or across our vast homeland, that does not know what a Belarus tractor is,” Vladimir Saldo said.
He emphasized that despite the ongoing hostilities people in Kherson Oblast are farming the land and thus need agricultural machines. “We are mulling over a technopark in Kherson Oblast and this project is actually in the design stage. We are already negotiating the possibility of this technopark hosting the maintenance centers for Belarusian equipment. We are confident it will find its niche among agricultural businesses,” the governor believes.
