Governor: Friendship, cooperation between Russia's Kaliningrad and Belarus will grow stronger

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Friendship and cooperation between Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia and Belarus will only grow stronger, Kaliningrad Oblast Governor Anton Alikhanov said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 23 October, BelTA informs.

"Belarusian buses have proven their worth. We hope that we will be able to continue this cooperation. Despite everything, our city and our region are growing and, of course, the demand for public transport will be rising. If we talk, for example, about the agricultural sector, footwear and light industries, Belarusian goods are traditionally well represented in almost all regions of the Russian Federation. Kaliningrad is no exception,” Governor Anton Alikhanov noted. “We are close geographically. I have instructed local retail chains to maintain supply channels from the Republic of Belarus. Because it creates competition and accordingly calms down prices in stores. Because often, unfortunately, local producers take advantage of the situation: when there is no pressure from outside, including from Belarusian goods, they raise prices.”

According to the governor, the potential for cooperation between Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast is far from being exhausted. "Our trade has increased very much over the years. I don't think that the current figures are the limit. I hope that our cooperation, our friendship will only grow stronger," he stressed.
