MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Government programs contribute to sustainable development of the areas that have been affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Tatiana Brantsevich mentioned it at a session of the interagency commission on government programs, the press service of the Economy Ministry told BelTA.
Representatives of the Economy Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry, the State Border Committee, the State Standardization Committee, and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus took part in discussions about adjustments to the government program on the infrastructure of border crossings at the State Border of the Republic of Belarus and the program on overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophe for the 2021-2025 period.
According to Tatiana Brantsevich, sustainable social and economic development of the areas affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant has always been and remains a priority task of the government.
“Over the years of independence our country has invested significant financial resources in social infrastructure, in enabling conditions conducive to decent work and comfortable life in these lands. The state will continue making maximum effort to reduce interregional differentiation and secure sustainable social and economic development of the regions,” she stressed.
Closely monitoring the effectiveness of investments in the development of border infrastructure is another task of strategic significance. “The ability to finish all the customs formalities as promptly as possible and without excessive inconvenience is the best demonstration of our country’s openness to tourists and business,” the deputy economy minister noted.
