Good sales of Belarusian food in China attributed to product quality, relations between presidents

MOSCOW, 2 December (BelTA) – Belarusian food has managed to rapidly conquer the Chinese market thanks to quality and thanks to good relations between leaders of the two countries, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksei Bogdanov on the sidelines of the Second Eurasian Congress organized by the Eurasian Development Bank in Moscow on 2 December, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “No doubt, the Chinese market is interesting for everyone. It is really complicated, it is not empty, all the internationally recognized brands are present there, and it is necessary to fight for the market from the point of view of marketing. Product certification is not simple either. But Belarusian companies have managed to successfully complete it. We started it more than four years ago and since then we've certified all the dairy enterprises, most of the meat-packing plants, poultry factories, and the products we make. Today we enjoy green light on the Chinese market virtually for all the main foodstuffs.”

“Why did we manage to do it so easily? Indeed, many countries have been trying to penetrate the Chinese market for decades. First, we have very good relations at the political level, at the very top. Second, Belarusian companies meet all the international standards. Belarusian companies are certified with the Chinese standard GP. We've passed the certification process with pride and can now sell our products on the highly competitive Chinese market,” the deputy agriculture and food minister added.

In his words, Belarus' food export to China so far this year has exceeded last year's figure by 36%. It has already reached $250 million or as much as in the entire year of 2020.
