MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Finance Ministry does not expect the coronavirus pandemic to affect the budget execution, Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told the parliament on 16 April, BelTA has learned.
Maksim Yermolovich emphasized that there is no need for emergency amendments to the budget in order to finance the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. “We have enough resources to execute the budget in the way we planned. We do not expect any short-term or long-term negative developments related to budget execution,” the minister said.
If budget shortfalls occur, they will be offset by the resources the Finance Ministry keeps on its accounts in the National Bank, the minister added.
“The budget parameters will be revised anyways. Additional funds were needed and will be needed for healthcare facilities. We are working to limit non-priority spending,” Maksim Yermolovich said.
As for the budget execution in Q1, no significant deviations from the planned parameters were reported.
