Gomel, Russia’s Yekaterinburg sign sister city agreement

GOMEL, 29 September (BelTA) – An agreement to establish sister city relations between Gomel and Russia’s Yekaterinburg was signed on the sidelines of the international industrial expo INNOPROM. Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Gomel Mayor Vladimir Privalov and Yekaterinburg Mayor Aleksei Orlov.

“This is an important step that opens up new prospects for technology exchange, joint projects, and the strengthening of business and cultural ties between our cities. This cooperation will yield benefits for the enterprises and initiatives on both sides,” the Gomel mayor emphasized.

During the meeting of Vladimir Privalov and Aleksei Orlov on the sidelines of the INNOPROM. Belarus expo, cooperation advancement between the two cities was discussed. Promising directions for the development of foreign trade included supplies of products from Gomel food industry enterprises, meat products, chocolate and confectionery, fat and oil products, light industry goods, furniture, and more. 

“I am confident that the interaction of our business entities will lay the foundation for a strong friendship, including between our cities, and will guarantee the advancement of further long-term cooperation,” Vladimir Privalov stressed.

The international industrial expo INNOPROM. Belarus makes its debut in Minsk from 29 September to 1 October 2025. It occupies a total area exceeding 20,000 square meters, which includes an outdoor space dedicated to large-scale equipment. The exhibition is structured around key industrial sectors: mechanical engineering and components, metallurgy and materials, the chemical industry, industrial IT, automation, and services. The event has attracted over 510 participating companies. This includes a strong contingent of more than 290 companies from 23 Russian regions, over 190 Belarusian companies, and more than 30 international firms from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, which will be featured in their respective national pavilions.
