Gomel Oblast to continue building homes in Russian regions

GOMEL, 27 February (BelTA) – The construction industry of Gomel Oblast will continue to build housing in Russian Kaluga Oblast and Kursk Oblast, head of the state property committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Dmitry Gaikevich told the media, BelTA has learned.

“Last year construction workers of Gomel Oblast built houses outside Belarus. We provided construction services worth $5.9 million. Regional specialists built houses in Russian Kursk and Kaluga cities. We will continue this work this year. Moreover, Mozyr House Building Factory won a contract to build houses in Ukraine,” the head of the committee said.

The Gomel Oblast Executive Committee session reviewed foreign economic performance of various sectors of Gomel Oblast in 2019. As for the construction sector, Dmitry Gaikevich noted that export of construction products reached $21 million. The main companies to represent the region in foreign markets are Gomelstroymaterialy and Gomelzhelezobeton. For example, last year Gomelstroymaterialy exported preformed mineral wool, autoclaved aerated concrete, bricks and silicate stones. “The factory concluded new contracts with companies from Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Italy, Moldova, Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, Serbia, Lithuania, Germany and Poland in 2019. All in all, shipments exceeded $5 million,” Dmitry Gaikevich said.

Gomel Oblast exported architectural, engineering, and construction services to the tune of $47.4 million. Delta drilling company, Gomelproject Institute and construction companies were the major contributors to the services export. The industry exported $354 million worth of transport services.
