MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) - Gomel Oblast of Belarus and Karaganda Oblast of Kazakhstan have updated their agreement on interregional cooperation and signed an action plan for its implementation for 2025–2026. The document was signed by Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko and Karaganda Oblast Akim Yermaganbet Bulekpayev within a visit of the Gomel Oblast delegation to Kazakhstan, the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.
Ivan Krupko recalled that nearly 30 years ago, in 1996, an interregional cooperation agreement between the two regions was first signed. "Today, we have updated it and approved an action plan (a roadmap) for 2025–2026 to strengthen and expand economic and humanitarian ties," Ivan Krupko said.
He suggested exploring several promising areas to enhance trade and economic interaction and realize potential. These include the supply of goods of Gomel manufacturers, furniture, wood processing products, particle boards and fiberboards, agricultural machinery of Gomselmash, crawler tractors of the Mozyr Engineering Plant, Gomeloblagroservice products, milking equipment of Gomelagrokomplekt, and dairy farm complex designs of the Gomelagropromproekt Institute to Karaganda Oblast.
The Gomel Oblast governor also outlined other avenues for mutually beneficial partnership, such as the creation of joint ventures, including those under preferential terms offered by the Gomel-Raton free economic zone, medical and industrial tourism, visits to cultural and historical sites and recreation at the Gomel Oblast health resorts.
Moreover, the Gomel-Raton free economic zone and the Saryarka free economic zone signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation.
